Brief Overview of the Role: Do you have a passion for working with children and making a difference? This role could be the perfect start for you. We are looking for an Early Years Assistant Apprentice which would involve working with groups of children under the direction of teaching and senior staff, including specific individual learning needs. As an Early Years Assistant Apprentice, you will be providing support for the pupils, the teachers, the curriculum and the school. In brief the duties will include: Provide specific support to pupils dependent upon their individual needs, ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities. Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils. Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher. Provide clerical/admin support for the teacher (eg photocopying, typing, filing etc). In liaison with the teacher, utilise strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals. Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/learning programmes, taking into consideration pupil learning styles. Undertake numeracy and literacy programmes, recording achievements and progress and provide appropriate reports and feedback for the teacher. Be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection. Report all concerns to the appropriate person. Contribute to the schools’ ethos, aims and development/improvement plan. These are just a handful of the duties, full Job Description can be given upon request. Essential Skills/Qualifications: NVQ 2 or equivalent in teaching assistance. Or minimum of 2 years experience working or caring for children at this age range GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) Willingness to participate in relevant training and development opportunities. Ability to work effectively in a team. Ability to build effective working relationships with all pupils and colleagues. Ability to work with children at all levels. Good personal numeracy and literacy skills Working Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-3.45pm (45 minutes unpaid lunch) 30 hours per week Monthly wage – £566.28 Please note your annual salary will be calculated on 30hrs per week over a 38 week term split pro rata over 12 months, therefore you will be paid a fixed month amount each month. Also, this will be a September 2023 start. Training to be given: Early Years Practitioner Level 2. You will gain your qualification within the school environment. Future Prospects: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the possibility of a full-time permanent position. This is at the discretion of the employer. About the Host Employer:- For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be employed by The Apprenticeship Works, with St Margaret s CofE Primary School being your Host Employer. St Margaret s CofE Primary School is a large two-form entry school in the heart of Orford Village. All the children are accommodated in a single main school site, but benefit from an additional training SMILE Centre, with specialist teaching facilities in Music, DT and IT.
