Wood is recruiting for a Senior Planner to join the Project Controls team to support with all planning activities across a variety of key projects within our Technical Consulting division on a 9 month contract either through PSC or PAYE.

The position will be based within our Staines office; however, we are open to considering Hybrid home / office working depending on your preference.

The Role

Working as part of a small team, the Senior Planner will provide Planning and scheduling support and direction to the business across a portfolio of varying assignments. They will also support the Project Controls team, and the wider Finance and Administration (F&A) function with enhanced planning and reporting focus.

The successful candidate will be fundamental in driving change and delivering a Planning service to the business that focuses on increasing accuracy and integrity of our scheduless, supporting operations to achieve efficiency.

This position is key for the Project Controls team with responsibility for matters relating to activities for operations and strategic objectives, this will include supporting the regional Senior Project Controls Manager (SPCM) to develop and improve regional reporting visibility and consistency.

Typical responsibilities

Planning and Forecasting

• Incorporate identified risks and uncertainties from the risk management process as contingency in the projects facilities schedule and assure they are classified and reported as such
• Flag schedule changes with possible cost impact to project cost controllers
• Maintain the critical path of the project activities and flag concerns and changes to the relevant Project Manager / Operational Manager
• Support delivery managers of the varying projects by preparation of sub-project plans, producing baseline schedules (Level I, II and III), resource profiles and progress models
• Develop and issue regular schedule updates for project steering purpose and internal and external reporting purpose
• Own the relevant schedules and plans, analyse contractor s schedule performance and recommend corrective measures to assure timely completion of the SoW
• Review contractor’s schedules and organise progress coordination meetings. Liaise with procurement and logistics departments. Participate in risks workshops, and perform schedule & cost risk analysis using Primavera as required
• Responsible to develop and maintain 60/90 days lookahead for r e levant project schedules, the performance of critical path analysis, and the reporting of variance analysis to stakeholders to manage project value and for development of contingency strategies
• Drive compliance to toll gating processes during the project approval phases, assure the proper quality of the required documents and processes are implemented in time, and coordinates and participate actively in project progress reviews

Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of project management tools & techniques focused on the area of planning, especially in Primavera P6 & MS Projects as well in contract administration, c ost and document control
• Keep continuously updated on developments, new technologies and best practices in the area of planning and project controls
• Knowledge of Industry Benchmarks to verify schedule and performance data in project execution

Reporting

• Maintain and establish a clear reporting framework for the relevant contractors to the projects and within the project to the relevant stakeholders
• Report and progress, forecasts and issues regularly updates to the integrated Project schedule as and when required
• Ensure progress reporting for selected actual physical (metric) quantities is aligned with main contractors and companies requirements
• Track Schedule Performance Index (SPI) data, along with issuance of Total/Free Float and Critical Path reports
• Develop and update supporting tracking tools, such as volumetric run-down curves and skylines
• Verify progress claimed is accurate ahead of transfer into the owner EVA progress mechanism
• Evaluate progress trending, resources and productivity to ensure required progress is maintained
• Deliver status reports for Schedule development, Schedule basis as well schedule related inputs to Risk and Change Management reports

Expected:

• Good Project planning and risk management experience across a portfolio of engineering consultancy projects
• Expert knowledge of planning and cost engineering systems and tools

• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multi-task

Desirable:

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in relevant technical or business discipline that can be substituted by suitable business experience
