We’re looking for a creative, and ambitious PR Manager to join our award-winning in-house eBay UK Communications team to lead proactive storytelling and campaign development that will generate lots of buzz across key cultural moments and our enthusiast categories.

About the team

This role reports to the Head of Communications and will partner with cross-functional teams and in particular with the brand, social and trading teams to deliver on earned media outcomes. The communications team in the UK is part of a global function so this role will work closely with colleagues in the US.

The Responsibilities

• You will lead proactive comms campaign development and execution – you will be responsible for developing highly integrated PR programmes which support eBay’s business objectives and trading verticals.
• Own the strategy and drive storytelling campaigns across our automotive vertical
• Be part of a cross-functional working group for vertical-specific go to market plans and deliver essential communications counsel to internal partners
• Be a thought-leader with finger on the pulse on the latest creative ways using social and influencers to reach our customers within an earned environment – be willing to challenge, test and learn
• Manage budgets relating to your portfolio, manage multiple work-streams and agency teams
• Develop and/or review media materials and foster strong media relationships with consumer and lifestyle media

Key skills/experience required:

• Proven experience working on recognised consumer brands in a fast-paced, PR environment, either agency or in-house, with experience in the automotive sector
• We’re looking for someone who is a nimble and creative storyteller, has a penchant for cross-team collaboration, a proactive and energetic posture, impeccable judgement and writing capabilities, acts with a sense of urgency and has the ability to weave seamlessly between fun consumer subject matters through to making money-making tips and sustainability topics easy for customers to understand
• A natural flair for news and social trends coupled with excellent news and editorial judgement and an in-depth understanding of how the media operates
• Understanding of the UK media landscape and established relationships
• Ability to interpret data quickly and create genuinely interesting and relevant media pitches and story opportunities.
• Experienced in briefing spokespeople, drafting media q&as, statements and releases
• Be able to demonstrate a passion for communications, and being ahead of trends and challenges – finger on the pulse
• Clear understanding of and empathy with UK mainstream consumers and the media they consume
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Capable of influence at all levels – able to build strong relationships across wide range of partners
• Great teammate, Self starter with a drive for being proactive, focused and results driven, quick, confident, yet considered decision-making
• Ability to assimilate new, complex business information and grasp new systems and processes in a corporate environment
