Hays Engineering are pleased to be assisting an Engineering consultancy in the recruitment of Project Engineers. The organisation is an American multinational with a UK base in Liverpool, operating in a number of defence sectors as well as energy. You will be based/seconded at one of their government client sites near Newbury working on Nuclear Decommissioning projects.

Your new role

As Project Engineer you will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks in the initial planning and design phase of projects. Under the direction of the Lead Project Engineer, interacts with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and client representatives as appropriate on an assigned project. Your responsibilities will include the following:

Prepares and reviews drawings as required, performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data.
Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project.
Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.
Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional training.
Familiar with codes, permits and company cornerstone applications.

What you’ll need to succeed

Ideally Degree Qualified or HNC/HND in engineering discipline.
Previous experience in highly regulated industries.
Proven experience in delivering projects of over £1 million.
Proven excellent analytical and organisational skills.
Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment previous experience of managing high value projects.
Proven knowledge of nuclear site decommissioning and waste management.

You will be eligible for UK SC security clearance.
