A Charity in London are currently seeking a Senior Web Developer to join their Website team on a permanent basis. The Senior Web Developer will work with other technical colleagues throughout the department to ensure front end and framework code is implemented consistently, making it accessible to users.
This is a Remote role with the option of office working.
Responsibilities:
– Documenting, communicating and implementing front end and design engineering standards.
– Assessing technology based on its impact on users and developer experience.
– Advocating for web standards in our online platforms and products.
– Working with colleagues to create and maintain component libraries and design systems.
– Maintaining domain and business knowledge.
– Identifying and raising defects with platforms, products, practices and processes.
– Educating and supporting more junior colleagues on all aspects of design engineering.
Experience:
– Has a solid understanding of how HTML, CSS and JavaScript impact accessibility; knows when and when not to use ARIA; is familiar with WCAG success criteria and how to meet them.
– Writing standards compliant semantic and accessible HTML, maintainable and well architected CSS, DOM scripting and browser APIs.
– Using progressive enhancement between and within front-end languages so core content and functionality is available to as many people as possible, and so people with modern devices and browsers can benefit from an enhanced experience.
– Diagnosing and fixing front-end performance problems using tools like WebPageTest, CrUX, Cloudflare workers, dev tools performance panel.
– Creating accessible interfaces and experiences that meet WCAG success criteria, using ARIA when necessary.
– Writing JavaScript to interact with the DOM and browser; has a broad knowledge of available browser APIs and differences across browsers.
