We are looking for an Additional Support Needs Assistant to join the team. In this role you will collaborate with teachers and offer specialised assistance to pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities. Your responsibilities will include: Attending to pupils personal needs including toileting, hygiene, as well as help with social, welfare and support with health matters. Administering medication in accordance with an agreed plan Working with pupils on therapy or care programmes. Assisting with the monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment, drawing any problems which cannot be resolved to the attention of the teacher. Selecting and adapting appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities. Providing learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of allocated pupils with SEN. Involvement in planning, organising and implementing individual development plans for pupils (such as Individual educational plans), including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews. The ideal Support Assistant will have: A background in Care or Health Service is essential. Knowledge of best practice in meeting care needs of children and young people. Awareness of Health, wellbeing and safety. Awareness of keeping children safe. Awareness of Data protection and confidentiality. Up-to-date First Aid training. Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths is essential). The ability to confidently communicate with parents, carers and class teachers. The following would also be a strong advantage: Is working towards a level 2 or 3 education or health care-based diploma Has experience of working with children with SEND understands and embraces the school’s ethos.
