We are seeking a Civil Site Supervisor on behalf of our client in Essex, who leads the field in sustainable waste management in Europe. This project will be constructing a 595,000 tonne energy-from-waste plant as part of an Integrated Waste Management facility in Essex.

contract – Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)

Over a year’s worth of groundworks have already been carried out and construction work has now commenced with piling activities on site. This will be one of the largest energy-from-waste plants in the UK and you will be working with an experienced international team of engineers to take the project from groundworks to commissioning (3.5years) and beyond.

This role will involve a combination of office and site-based engineering activities, where you will be expected to produce reports, review Risk Assessments & Method Statements while also ensuring that work packages are being executed as planned. You will monitor the progress and the quality of construction work and will make sure that the works are executed in a timely manner and in conformance with the relevant Design and appropriate contract.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Maintain comprehensive daily site records of plant, labour and production
• Monitor and track works progress against contract programme and lookahead programmes.
• Inspect and record health, safety and environment observations.
• Attend daily co-ordination meetings with the contractor.
• Physical presence required at work fronts.
• Support the Project Manager in completing the list of outstanding issues.
• Ensure NCRs and defects are logged, actioned and closed out.
• Regular liaison with Project Manager to ensure that contractor works are delivered in accordance with the contract.
• Monitor contractor’s safety and environmental standards and ensure that they comply with company standards and legislation/industry good practice.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Third level qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction, plus significant and relevant experience.
• CSCS card essential. SEATS and SMSTS preferred, although not essential.
• Experience in Construction of large-scale technical investment projects of a Civil Engineering or heavy Construction nature or similar works
• Experience in heavy civil engineering works including major FRC works, buried services, road construction and large steel frames.
• Project planning experience is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of UK Construction and health and safety regulations.
• Proficient at preparing reports.
• Specialist knowledge in their expert domain
• Thorough knowledge (legal, technical, functional) of Construction management.
