The Opportunity:A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join an exciting business based in Durham. This role will suit someone with project accounting experience as well as a strong business partnering background. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, this role will offer a broad scope of duties and responsibilities and exposure to an array of different stakeholders across the business.Duties and responsibilities:
Regularly review, support and challenge of site appraisals for all projects in the portfolio, highlighting to management and/or the board variances to project budget or programme and supporting developments and improvements.
Supporting the Project Managers with monthly project updates and project cashflows and ensuring the project strategy and spend is in line with internal key review processes and business plan targets.
Preparing the business plans and providing quarterly updates regarding progress towards short, medium and longer-term business targets.
Producing regular detailed forecasts for the current and subsequent years.
Producing, appraising, modelling and rolling business plans and models relating to new initiatives.
Developing key performance indicators and performance monitoring thereon.
Appraisal of new projects and existing projects for key stages and input into key review reports.
Preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheets and cash flow reports, including rolling re-forecasting to strict period end timetable.
Preparing monthly board packs incorporating analysis of actual and projected performance.
Preparing annual statutory accounts with supporting schedules for audit commercial support.
Supporting Project Managers and Planners with their financial appraisals and site development activities providing financial advice throughout the entire lifecycle of the various projects undertaken by the business.
Providing critical analysis and challenge to assumptions used and support in identifying project risks and value opportunities.
Supporting development teams in new ways of thinking.
Assisting in the evolution of the current financial models and tools to support management.
Develop and refine reports and management accounts for the division as it grows.
You will be/have
Be ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified.
Broad financial and tax knowledge, including understanding of project accounting.
Strong IT and financial analysis skills including the ability to interpret data and assess impacts on the business.
Advanced Excel use – knowledge of Macros would be desirable.
Strong communication skills and experience of partnering roles
