About the role:

This role will be key to progressively operationalising AI across Defence supporting the MOD in their ambition to “adopt and exploit AI at pace and scale, transforming Defence into an ‘AI ready’ organisation and delivering cutting-edge capability”.QinetiQ is uniquely placed to help the MOD achieve this ambition through our proven capabilities across test, evaluation, training and mission rehearsal as well as our research and development outputs. Our AI Assurance proposition will be delivered by the Research and Innovation Integrated Delivery Team. Supporting both S&T research and military capability delivery projects, you will be responsible for drawing together the multi-disciplinary expertise needed to test, evaluate, validate and verify AI components as these are increasingly implemented in mission and safety critical systems. This is an emerging but exciting area as the science and practice of AI assurance is still immature.

What will I be doing?

• Developing and capturing best practice in AI assurance (risk and compliance based delivery methodologies/approaches and enabling tools).
• Liaising with customers at a business and technical level to enhance our understanding of their requirements, and theirs of QinetiQ’s offerings and capabilities – advising and shaping the client’s requirements.
• Leading the profitable delivery of contracted projects or programmes using agile methodologies, providing technical leadership and coordinating a larger multi-disciplinary team drawn from across QinetiQ UK and partners.
• Ensuring the end deliverables meet customer specification and quality expectations.

What do I need?

• Knowledge and experience across some or all of the following – Data Science, Software Assurance, Security, Test and Evaluation, Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS), Safety Assurance or Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
• Experience in agile project delivery and knowledge of agile methodologies.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity – incrementally creating the rule book and standards through successful project delivery as our delivery experience grows.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels across the department, business, and externally with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
