Application Support Engineer

A high performing and agile team are looking for an Application Support Engineer to focus on upgrades, development and support for all IT Systems across the business. This company is an industry leader in its sector and is looking to continuously develop and improve. This role will work in a fast paced, evergreen environment where change in software applications happens frequently. You will need a passion for continuously learning and finding solutions, alongside collaborating with the cloud and service desk teams.

The role will include:

In this role, you will need experience in administering, monitoring, and maintaining software applications. You will take ownership of customer incidents and perform investigations to resolve the issues alongside your team. You will be able to provide enhanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills and be able to work with a multitude of stakeholders. You will ensure the security and resilience of the systems is maintained and will support disaster recovery within the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Work closely with internal user group to provide advice and guidance on the design and development of new and changed systems to optimise operational efficiency
• Resolve application related incidents, service requests and problems in a timely and efficient manner in line with business requirements
• Provide timely communication to users on the status of service requests and incidents
• Produce full specification of work defined and seek sign-off before work is commissioned
• Recommend modifications for third party software, attending user groups and act as lead advisor to software vendor
• Plan and implement system modules, enhancements, patches and upgrades in-line with change management process to ensure minimal impact to the business

Knowledge and skills required:

• Experience in all aspects of providing IT application support to users in a customer focused environment
• Experience of implementing and upgrading major business applications
• Experience and knowledge of supporting and upgrading third party applications in line with change management processes.
• Experience of dealing with internal customer and external suppliers and overseeing these upgrades.
• Understanding of how to utilise they system to its full potential and potential spot any improvements that can be made and be able to follow through with actions
• Understanding of how to work in an ITIL framework and has experience in dealing with change management and ensuring documentation is kept up to date and any knowledge can be passed to the 2nd and 1st line teams.
• Experience in any of main systems such as Orchard Housing, Open Accounts, Uniclass, DRS & Job Manager, would be an advantage
