We are thrilled to be supporting our longstanding client Sandwell in Towcester with this opportunity to work as part of their Workshop Team.
Sandwell provides shot peening and surface finishing of parts for customers from motorsport, aerospace and other sectors. Shot peening is a process of impacting the surface of metal components, using very small shot (referred to as ‘media’). It is undertaken at high speed/high air pressure – all safely contained within special peen cabinets. The process adds technical benefits to metal components, improving their efficiency and strength.
We are looking to recruit someone to be part of our busy workshop team within our family run engineering business in Towcester. The postholder will work under the supervision of our Maintenance Manager, whose responsibility is to keep our machines, premises and associated processes running smoothly The post holder’s main duties will be concerned with the control of blast media used within our controlled shot peen and finishing machines.
In order to meet the particular requirements of our quality accreditations, it is important that specific methods for completing and recording jobs is undertaken in line with specific methods. Full training would be given to the correct candidate.
Duties would include, but are not limited to:
Media changes (classify/emptying and replacing blast media within controlled peen/blast machines)
Media classification (using sieve system to ensure quality of media meets required standards).
Routine safety checks (eg Fork Lift Trucks, other lifting equipment)
Assisting in the maintenance of clean, safe and tidy workplace.
Assisting with the upkeep of premises and immediate surroundings.
Assisting Maintenance Manager in maintenance/upgrade projects
This is a busy, varied and often physically demanding role within a workplace where health and safety awareness is key. Whilst any relevant experience within an engineering environment would be beneficial, the skills and characteristics we are mostly looking for are as follows:

willingness to follow set procedures and written and verbal instructions
reliability and punctuality
