JLR
A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is where it all begins. We develop the new concepts that go on to become new Jaguars and Land Rovers. So, the emphasis is on building strong strategic, technical and financial foundations right from the start.
The Chassis Dyno Operations team is part of Powertrain Test Operations and Engineering Operations. The team maintains productive workflow from the test facility and delivers test capability to the Powertrain Engineering and Certification teams. The delivery of testing using complex measurement instruments is required to drive the design and optimization of control technology in order to meet required vehicle targets. The team supports delivery of testing Chassis Dynamometer Emissions and EV Range, Evaporative Emissions and Real driving Emissions test programs from facilities at Whitley, Gaydon, Solihull and overseas.
You’ll operate across the Whitley facility conducting activities to ensure that we provide the capability to make measurements and deliver tests to fulfil customer requests. Responsible for providing and maintaining common processes and for ensuring that productive capability is maintained. Seek to improve operations by appropriate involvement in challenging redundant practices and using a flexible approach. The main activities need strong technical capability and require critical and analytical reasoning, robust planning, co-ordination and control of own workload. You’ll be supporting a wide range of engineering customers, skilled test facility operators, suppliers, external agencies and organisations in order to provide continuity of testing and assurance that our facility and output meet the requirements of established international standards for laboratory accreditation.
The primary focus of the role will be to support the correlation testing program. As part of this program, a number of vehicles are regularly tested across all the test cells and this is used to analyse the repeatability and reproducibility of certain parameters. Without the program there is no way to accurately capture quality statistics on emissions and other test parameters. It can also be useful in capturing both cell and equipment issues proactively, reducing the facilities downtime and lost tests. One vehicle will also correlate external facilities when required and as agreed by leaders of the program.
