Your new role
. Undertake a range of data engineering tasks including analysis, ingestion, transformation, loading to meet business requirements as defined in the Delivery Plan. Ensure all developments comply with relevant legislation eg, data protection, MOPI. Ensure data is held adhering to best security practices, home office directives and locally agreed standards. Produce high quality documentation to ensure smooth transition from development to production.
. Provide 3rd line support and in-depth technical advice for all software solutions developed internally by ICT. Using the ICT incident and problem management processes, assess, investigate, analyse and resolve faults and issues affecting the operational delivery of services and functions. Continually monitor incidents and service requests to ensure closure within agreed SLAs to meet departmental KPIs.
. Contribute to the team culture of agility, responding constructively to changing and emerging requirements. Actively contribute to good levels of team working, morale and productivity both internally within the team and externally within multi-disciplinary project teams, with customers and staff from external suppliers.
. Ensure you are applying and adhering to departmental policies and processes, including Change, Asset and Problem Management, whilst complying with appropriate standards and industry best-practice. Proactively contribute to continuous improvement.
. Continually keep abreast of industry trends, new data engineering techniques and technologies, and undertake training as required by the Development Team Leader and Development Manager to ensure skills are kept up to date and aligned with BCH Development Team requirements.
What you’ll need to succeed
Mandatory
. At least two years recent experience in a data engineering role using Microsoft technologies, ie, SQL Server, SSMS, SSIS (or similar ETL tool), SSRS, Azure Data Studio.
Desirable
. Database performance tuning
. Data warehouse design
. Elastic stack
. Oracle RDBMS
. Cloud technologies
. Agile development techniques
Must be highly motivated, innovative and flexible with excellent time management skills.
Must be capable of good communication at all levels often dealing with complex ICT issues with non-ICT staff.
Must be able to work in a team.
