Domain Owner, Geology (Senior Product Manager)

Halliburton is looking for a technology and business leader to serve as Domain Owner for their Geology software portfolio. This role reports to the Subsurface Technical Business Line Manager as part of the Landmark Product Management and Marketing business division. Within this geology technology group there are multiple software teams who report up to the Domain Owner through Solution & Product Owners who run the day-to-day software development process. This role is based out of the Halliburton-Landmark Geoscience Center of Excellence near Oxford, UK, with international travel potentially accounting for up to 15% of the position’s time.

Job Description:

• We are looking for a seasoned geoscientist with experience managing internal technology groups and external partner relationships.
• Industry experience applying geological workflows and technologies to real world examples is required.
• Experience in managing product teams in software development & commercialization is a plus but not required.
• Work with the Solution Owners, Product Owners, executive management, and external stakeholders to define & manage the solution strategy, roadmap, commercialization model, financial performance, IP portfolio, lifecycle execution and has ultimate accountability for defining the strategic direction of the portfolio.
• Will be accountable to bring in funded development when appropriate, identify new product and business opportunities and industry and competitor changes that may require new strategies or revisions of the business plan.
• Responsible for introducing new products to market and growing our customer base.
• Work with the Solution & Product Owners when necessary to help them manage & define user-stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritizing the technology backlog. The Domain Owner will be expected to mentor and help develop direct reports and others within the organization.
• Work with the Sales & Marketing organizations to generate go-to-market and sales-strategy materials and will use these to help prepare regional customer engagement channels for new software releases. The Domain Owner will be expected to give external presentations and build relationships with current and new customers.
• Participate in professional societies, produce technical journal articles, and evangelize the Halliburton-Landmark Geology Portfolio in the industry through thought leadership.

Development Background

• Undergraduate degree in the geosciences or equivalent.

• Completion of a graduate degree in the geosciences or equivalent is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in oil and gas.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, process/technology management or equivalent.
• Familiar in software development methodologies such as agile/scrum preferred.
• Familiar with design thinking methodologies or equivalent.

• Proficient with multiple aspects of subsurface geological workflows.
