Electronic Hardware Technician – Central Belt Scotland

We are working in collaboration with a leading Manufacturing company who are currently looking to recruit an Electronic Hardware Technician to join their growing team on a permanent basis.

As an Electronic Hardware Technician you will be involved in the assembly and testing of medical device instruments being developed by the team. You will be required to debug proto-type Instruments, you may also be required to become involved in assembly prototype electronic assemblies.

As the Electronic Hardware Technician responsibilities will include;

• Assemble Instruments as per assembly drawings and verbal instructions.
• Modifying Instruments to suit specific purpose eg mechanical and electrical modifications, including wiring and adding extra circuits, etc. as required.
• Program Instruments to specific software requirements, including modification of software.
• Add and replace surface mount parts using soldering iron.
• Assisting in lab testing strips and/or running test on repeatability and linearity.
• Debugging and repairing Instruments down to component level.
• Assemble Instrument sub-assemblies to measure accuracy of parts.
• Maintain associated documentation for recording instrument repairs and updates.
• Work in conjunction with the company’s Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
• Ensure any PPM and reactive maintenance, adjustment or calibration required is scheduled/conducted in a timely manner.
• Conduct calibration, maintenance, fault finding and adjustment of Instruments.

Essential Skills

• A hands on Technician with experience in a highly regulated industry.
• Ability to assemble prototype diagnostics devices by hand as required.
• HNC or equivalent in Electronics.
• Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
• Good soldering skills.
• Ability to use test equipment as required, eg voltmeter, programmers, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office package.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Desire to learn and improve processes and procedures.
