Salary Benefits £98,685 – £116,100 base salary, discretionary bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the team Working within the Financial Wellbeing Platform you will play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Platform’s purpose is to create a leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. We aim to achieve this purpose through

• improving colleague experience by simplifying processes and modernising systems,

• reduce costs through an increased focus on Automation, DevOps , and Cloud technologies.

Our aim is to create a forward-thinking engineering culture that supports the Customers in Financial Assistance business in delivering high quality, efficient and positive Lab outcomes for our customers. The role of the Lab Engineer is vital in ensuring that we deliver on our purpose. Leading by example, your primary focus will be on delivering change across multiple feature teams.

About the role

This role is a leadership role that blends both deep domain and technical expertise with a passion for coaching and developing people. Lab Engineering leads need to be able to showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills. You’ll also:

• Provide a voice to engineers within the labs, identifying and supporting their teams where needed.

• Work alongside the Lab PO in shaping the vision for the Lab

• Have a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving.

• Able to describe complex situations to a multifaceted business and technology audience.

• Aim to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring, and supporting their engineering teams.

• Identifying and supporting teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team.

• You’ll influence positively – demonstrating the right values and behaviours and encouraging this in team members.

What we need from you

• Hands on engineering background in Java, React and experience with public cloud.

• Experience of the full web application stack.

• Experience in Back-end API integration.

• Experience working with modern web technologies.

• Strong people management and leadership experience.

• A natural facilitator and decision-maker.

• Experience In applying engineering skills directly into the work at enterprise solutions.

It would be great if you also had.

• An understanding of DevOps pipelines and tools with a focus on automated build/ test/ deploy is helpful.
