We are looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company
Leading the finance functions to ensure each function operates successfully and achieves departmental targets;
Ensure continuous compliance with Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules;
Deliver an effective credit control function within the business including minimising fee and outlay write-offs due to internal errors;
Provide guidance and training to members of the conveyancing department about financial compliance matters;
Audit and ensure continued compliance with internal Anti-Money Laundering and Risk Assessment Policies, Law Society of Scotland rules, and general AML legislation;
Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Cashroom Partner.
Develop close working relationships with the managing director and other senior managers;
Take overall control of the company’s budget and accounting function and provide company-wide budgetary planning (with MD);
Contribute and support the MD with the development of the company strategy providing financial analysis and guidance on growth, business activities, plans and targets;
Monitor all incoming and outgoing financial transactions.
The Successful Applicant
This role will suit either an exceptionally experienced, cross-skilled and ambitious Senior Legal Cashier with excellent general accounting and book-keeping experience or an Accountant who has a good knowledge of legal accounting and the Law Society of Scotland’s accounts rules and who is prepared to rapidly become an expert in these.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record working in a senior financial role within a medium-sized or large business.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Degree Qualification in Accountancy and Finance or similar;
A strong financial background in an in-house environment;
Breadth of general accounting experience;
Ability to translate complex accounting and cashroom concepts into plain English to explain issues to senior management;
An in-depth knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering legislation, procedures and regulations;
Extensive experience of working with Xero;
Desire to achieve and a motivational leadership style;
A hands-on attitude towards achieving goals.
Extensive experience of working with legal CRM systems that integrate with Xero (i.e. not LawWare!) such as LEAP, Denovo, LexisNexis Visual Files etc.
Previous experience working within the property sector.
