Cheltenham College consists of two inter-dependent fee-paying schools within a single executive structure. Cheltenham College, founded in 1841, is the oldest of the Victorian public schools and is predominantly a boarding school of some 750 pupils, including a Sixth Form of 310 pupils.
Both schools are fully co-educational. They have fine academic records and a considerable reputation for sport, drama and music.
Job Description
The Finance Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Working with the Director of Finance, provide information and tools to support the financial management of the whole organisation through financial reporting, financial analysis and forecasting. Direct line management of the Accounts Supervisor (PL and NL) and secondary line management of the Accounts Officer. Through your team, ensure the effective management of day to day financial tasks and processing to time and quality targets. Work closely with the Director of Finance in the preparation of the annual budget. Hold regular meetings with budget holders for larger or more complex departments acting as a business partner to support good financial management practice. Oversight of the preparation and dispatch of termly invoices. Work closely with the Director of Finance and the Bursar on longer term fees debt cases supporting work to bring them to a successful conclusion. The Successful Applicant A professional accounting qualification (ACA,ACCA,CIMA or equivalent). Experience of financial management and reporting in a complex organisation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide insight and guidance on complex financial issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. A proactive approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience of the iSAMs and Pass systems would be an advantage but is not essential. What’s on Offer
