About the role
The day to day:
The Health & Safety team sits within our HR Operations function and provides specialist support and advice to colleagues throughout our business. The type of support provided is diverse, for example, one minute providing coaching to line managers and the next providing expert input to a challenging situation. You will be a NEBOSH Fire Certificate holder Fire Risk Assessor (Essential). The position does involve travel and can be based within the Manchester / Preston / Scotland and Border areasas a location.
Your responsibilities will include:
Liaising with H&S Management team, HR, Property Services, , MDs and other management
Completing annual branch inspections and preparation of branch Risk Assessments using e-logbooks
Instructing business unit managers in H&S practices including maintain log books and Health & Safety folders
Working with local management to ensure Actions raised from Risk Assessments are carried out.
One-on-one training with BMs to help them generate a positive H&S culture within each branch
Reviewing WSA Assessments and where necessary completing them for company employees with pre-existing medical conditions
Helping employees complete their own DSE Assessments
Completion of Expectant Mother Assessments when required
Aiding with Accident investigation and potential Riddor notification
Co-ordinating the roll-out of group H&S policies
Liaising with HR on individual H&S support requirements
The role of H&S Advisor will be constantly developing and therefore the job description and focus of the role will evolve.
Your skills and experience:
interpret and explain relevant policies and procedures to a range of staff
negotiate and persuade others through communicating and presenting effectively
produce reports and maintain records
keep up to date with policies relating to Health and Safety and occupational hygiene
Entry Requirements
Previous Health and Safety experience essential
Ability to create specialised H&S reports
NEBOSH Fire Certificate
Fire Risk Assessor
Accident and incident investigation
Industry related experience
Competetent in the use of Microsoft Office
Driving License
