Hygiene Assistant

Job Type: Permanent, 32.5 hours per week (Term Time only)

Location: Chailey, East Sussex, BN8 4EF

Salary: £15,816 rising to £16,509 per annum

The Role

This role is vital in helping make a positive difference to children with complex physical disabilities and health needs by assisting with their personal care.

The main duties of this role will include:

• To undertake all aspects of personal care
• To be able to facilitate the pupils within the manual handling guidelines.
• Undertaking departmental stock take and regularly check slings are in good condition.
• To develop an understanding of pupils’ everyday health care needs and respond appropriately.
• Encourage pupils to act as independently as appropriate, encouraging them to achieve their individual potential and promote their self-esteem.
• Ensure smooth running of the hygiene areas, to include stock check, cleaning down and tidying up at the end of the school day along with ensuring that individuals’ hygiene boxes are stocked and prepared for use.

You will receive first class induction and ongoing training from qualified professionals, and will not be expected to carry any procedures out alone until you have been fully trained. You will be assigned a ‘buddy’ to mentor you and make sure that you are confident in your new role to support you.

The charity offer a £600 welcome bonus for new newly appointed employees for roles that involve working directly with the young people. The £600 will be paid in three payments over twelve months, provided the eligibility criteria is met.
