THE ROLE: Junior Accountant – remote opportunity Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be responsible for the general accounting function of the company and its subsidiaries while assisting with month-end duties and special projects as required. This role would be ideal for those pursuing an accounting designation as it offers an opportunity to join the organisation at a pivotal time allowing for professional growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including prepaids, amortization and accruals Reconcile general ledger accounts and working papers Process accounts payable transactions (vendor invoices and payment, employee expenses, and credit card transactions) Prepare monthly accounts receivables invoices and follow up on customer queries. Prepare and process government remittances (HST, PST, VAT) Assist with the year-end audit process through preparation of required working papers and supporting documentation Assist with integration of acquired companies into the finance department and the Netsuite system Special projects and other general accounting duties as required EXPERIENCE: Bachelor s degree or diploma in Finance/Accounting, working towards a CPA designation 2-3 years of working experience in accounting, with knowledge of IFRS Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills Exceptional attention to details and organization skills Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced demanding environment, with the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines with accurate data Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with a strong sense of urgency – Get it done attitude!
