Job Title: Materials Handler Department: Warehouse & Distribution Location: Stanley (UK) Hours: 38 hours per week Responsible to: Production Team Leader Responsible for: Issuing and movement of goods and materials. Purpose of Job: Issuing and movement of goods and materials to ensure the efficient running of the production dept. Key result areas: Implementation of the objectives set by management. Uphold the company s values of safety, quality and performance. Maintain the quality standards for the product set by the company. Comply with all statutory legislation and the companies Health and Safety Policies. Support and promote Business Excellence. Generate KPI s relating to production department efficiency. Providing support and guidance on work related procedures or policies. Lead teams from other departments in solving problems on machinery and procedures. Coaching employees in developing their skills and knowledge, including providing opportunity for employees to learn new skills. Relay improvement ideas to senior managers. Encouraging and motivating your team. Collaborate with technical and quality departments on associated projects. Adhering to and carrying out the company s 5s programme by maintain housekeeping Standards. Ensure all relevant company procedures and policies are followed. Knowledge Planning methodologies (Kanban, made to stock etc.). Computer experience Excel, Sage, or other production management software. Skills/Experience Previous experience in similar roles. Ability to work under pressure meeting required targets. Good organisational skills. Use of warehousing software (ERP). Application of problem-solving techniques in real world situations. Good communication skills. Qualifications GCSE maths/English Slinger and banks man Certificate to use overhead crane correctly Counterbalance forklift licence Full UK driving licence Adult Literacy level 1 Adult Numeracy level 1 First aid Fire Marshal Daily Duties Ensure daily checks on Fork Trucks and other lifting equipment are carried out reporting any defects to the line manager. Preparation and issuing goods to the production lines. Organise steel so that operators use a FIFO system. Assist in coil change overs on machines. Ensure the safe storage of all goods in Production. Sign off and movement of goods from the Eng. stores to Production. Make accurate records of stock movements, dispatches and labour time using appropriate methods. Ensure production area is secure when not in use. Removal of waste product produced by the production process. Carry out daily cleaning duties during and at the end of the shift. Weekly Duties Ensure inventory checks are carried out as agreed with the line manager, investigate and report discrepancies. Update KPI s as per defined list. Perform 5S audits and agree improvement tasks with line manager, assign employees to complete each task. Carry out racking checks as per schedule. Duties as required Activate TPM cards for damaged or broken items/building. Carry out basic machine maintenance to forklift such as refilling batteries with distilled water. Clean rollformer rafts as per plan. Troubleshoot problems. Investigate NCN s. Any other duties as required by the management team.
