We are recruiting for a part time, Health & Safety Officer to work for an electronics manufacturing company based in Basildon, Essex. Working 16 hours per week which will reduce in one year to one day per week.
Role Summary
This role has full site responsibility for developing and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards within the Company. They have c£100 staff and 45,000 square foot of modern manufacturing space and are looking for an experienced part time Health and Safety Officer to support the safe management of their workplace.
Key responsibilities
Ensure that the company is compliant with all relevant H&S legislation
Co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects of Health and Safety
Plan and implement actions to improve standards in accordance with health and safety objectives and proactively ensure polices are updated in line with legislation changes
To ensure all risk assessments are carried out in relation to COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and Fire and that annual checks take place
Ensure all accidents, incidents or near misses are fully investigated and all necessary paperwork (including Riddor) is completed and submitted to the correct regulatory body
Undertake monthly Housekeeping audits and report findings to relevant managers and as part of monthly KPI’s
Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company
Measure, monitor and manage key H&S metrics, which will be reported into Management meetings
Drive culture change initiatives throughout the company to ensure continual improvement in performance
Lead and represent H&S in production meetings
Be the point of contact for external authorities on H&S issues
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements
Previous knowledge of working within a manufacturing business.
Nebosh National General Certificate
Minimum of 3 years health and safety experience
Strong work ethic
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage own workload independently
The confidence to engage with team members from all levels of the business
Office Administration experience
PC literate – experience with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel etc.) or equivalent.
This role is part-time working 16 hours per week and is offered on a fixed term basis, initially for one year. Thereafter, once processes and procedures are established, a reduction in hours is expected and will be discussed.
