This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.
We’re looking for an experienced Philanthropy Coordinator, someone who is well-versed in writing applications for support and used to working with small charitable trusts, to join the team.
At the National Trust, we have worked to protect places of Historic Interest and Natural Beauty for over 120 years. We look after a quarter of a million hectares of land and countryside, 775 miles of coastline, and thousands of archaeological monuments and historic buildings – and that’s an expensive task.
We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our 5 million members but, as membership covers only a third of our costs, we also rely on donations and legacies to enable our vital conservation work to continue.
What it’s like to work here
We’re bigger than you think, we’re more complicated than we appear and we’re larger scale than you’d imagine. We’ve got passionate people in all our teams, and we’ve got so much more we want to achieve. We’re for ever, for everyone and we really mean that. We don’t want to stop at 5.5 million members and we want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.
Our central head, office Heelis, is situated in Swindon, Wiltshire. We’re well placed, with ample parking nearby, a shopping outlet with plenty of options for places to eat, and the town centre only a 10-minute walk away. Alternatively, you can enjoy our open plan atrium space for lunch times, with our internal café available every day.
What you’ll be doing
As Philanthropy Co-ordinator you’ll co-ordinate a programme of approaches to small and medium sized charitable trusts – and write applications for donations – to support the team targets.
You’ll prepare project proposals, approach Trusts and Foundations for support and provide high quality stewardship for an allocation of regular supporters.
You’ll also provide support to the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager in the account management of some of our most significant donors, for example, by creating detailed impact reports.
