Planning Engineer – Glasgow

Hydrasun are recruiting a Planning Engineer to provide project planning, project control and documentation control support to the Project team for projects in the emerging hydrogen sector and other energy sectors. The position will be based in Glasgow but will support projects both in the UK and internationally.

Project Planning

• Initially support the Project Manager in establishing project planning procedures, processes and tools for the Team.
• This will include supporting the implementation of the Hydrasun Project Management software, Hexagon EcoSys.
• Preparing project Gantt charts, resource plans and S curves for submission and approval by the Project Manager and customers.
• Reviewing project plans to ensure resources are allocated accurately and levelled where appropriate and critical paths are clearly defined.
• Briefing the Projects Engineering Manager and where appropriate the customer on the Project Plan.
• Preparing Project Cost Estimates and Control Plans using the agreed unit rates provided by the Projects Engineering Manager.
• Assist the Projects Engineering Manager and Business Manager (Proposals and Projects) in preparing tender responses for major projects.
• Responsible for updating, maintaining and reporting the integrated Resource Management plan within Haxagon EcoSys to the Management Team.

Project Document Control

• Perform prescribed quality checks in line with engineering standards and specifications on all documentation processed through DC/QMS prior to creation of Hydrasun documentation.
• Produce specific documentation (technical documentation packs, manuals, procedural documents, work-packs) in accordance with both Hydrasun and customer defined formats & requirements, including SMDL / SRDL / Project specific documentation.
• Interface with internal Hydrasun Sales Channels regarding the provision of specific product supply documentation (e.g. COCs, Material Test Certificates, etc.) and compilation of submissions to customers.
• Follow documentation requirements schedule and expedite as necessary. Submit documentation in line with defined timetables and in the manner prescribed in the Hydrasun QMS or customer defined instructions to vendors.

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

• Educated to HND or above in relevant subject
• Significant experience in similar roles in the industry
• Experience in preparing project plans and progress monitoring on projects.
• Experience reviewing and actioning certification packs based on engineering standards and specifications.
• Administration experience gained within an Oil & Gas Environment
• Knowledge of various electronic documentation management systems such as ODIC, LiveLink, SharePoint, ShareCat etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both written and orally
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to plan and organise workload to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Knowledge of file format conversion processes.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Able to demonstrate a flexible, “can do” approach to their work.
• Proven skills in presenting.

Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

• Degree / post Graduate Qualification in Project Management or planning
• Experience gained within a product supply environment
• Understanding of Document Control principles
• Technical background
• Experience in using Hexagon Eyso project management software.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
