ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
Look after the professional services teams who look after local families
In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. By sharing facilities and expertise with Westminster City Council, we’re able to offer joined-up services for children, young people and their families that are constantly evolving and improving. Practice education is central to this aim, ensuring good outcomes for local families, while also enhancing professional development within our teams.
This is a leadership role and an opportunity to hone your existing strong practice development skills with two high-performing local authorities. You’ll manage training primarily for children’s social workers but also educational psychologists, occupational therapists, family therapists and others engaged in the systemic practice model – from apprenticeships and newly qualified training programmes to expert-level specialist development. A key challenge is managing a coherent approach to practice development across two independent boroughs. Success depends on high levels of organisation and the ability to juggle multiple priorities; in particular, you will need to balance managerial responsibilities with the commissioning and delivery of professional education.
You’ll be a qualified and registered social worker with a passion for practice education, and significant additional training in the field. A deep understanding of social work delivery in the local government context is essential. This should include experience of managing student placements and enabling staff development, quality assuring placements and creating great learning experiences. An engaging communicator with hands-on development skills, you should also be capable of leading and facilitating groups.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
