Robert Half is working in partnership with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to recruit a Principal Accountant to join their finance team. This role will work as part of a large finance team to provide a quality accountancy service to the Authority’s Directorates.

The role will be based in Dudley; however, home-working and flexible working arrangements can be discussed with Robert Half.

Some of your key responsibilities will include the following:

• Support on the budgeting and forecasting processes
• Participate in the closure of the month-end accounts
• Prepare regular financial reports and communicate the results to internal stakeholders
• Support the Senior Principal Accountants and Finance Managers on a range of projects
• Ensure completion of all relevant grant claims, statistical returns and performance indicators

The right person for this role will be a Qualified Accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) who has previously worked in a similar capacity. You will ideally have had exposure to local government, but the business is open to applicants from a variety of backgrounds. Some of your key skills and experiences will include:

• Significant budgeting and forecasting experience
• Comfortable with a month-end process
• Advanced IT skills, including Excel
• Comfortable explaining complex financial matters to non-finance colleagues
