Job Description
Working in CDPQ’s London based private equity team, the candidate will be an integral part of the deal team supporting it both throughout new LBO transactions as well as with portfolio company monitoring. The candidate will be able to thrive in a collaborative, rather informal and also vivid cultural environment of high performers. As an Associate, it is asked that the candidate is able to work alongside but also manage younger Analyst, as and when appropriate. As such, the candidate will have to demonstrate both abilities to master skills required from Associates as well as having sufficient experience, maturity and critical thinking to start managing and coordinating various workstreams with both internal and external parties.
Main responsibilities
Participate in the evaluation of potential investment opportunities and contribute to the preparation of preliminary analyses and investment recommendation documents;
Support Directors, by carrying out rigorous financial modelling, valuation analyses, and review of business models ;
Contribute to the preparation of internal reports according to schedule and ensure that updates are implemented;
Exhaustively review companies’ financial reports, establish comparable data representative of the market, by carrying out a detailed analysis;
Provide support to directors in the preparation and organization of different discussions and meetings held with partners both inside and outside of CDPQ;
Systematically carry out in-depth research on the situation and trends related to her/his industry sectors: proactively follow the news and gather information from key sources;
Coordinate with external advisors and follow-up closely with such advisors on simultaneous workstreams during live processes
Coordinate and help manage internal CDPQ teams who will be working alongside CDPQ’s private equity team (e.g. CDPQ’s internal tax, ESG and legal teams); Participate in, and review Associates’ work and analyses (both excel and powerpoint based) that are required;
Actively help prepare studies / analyses related to potential targets and/or market niches the team wishes to develop and explain key takeaways to Directors;
Generate value added analyses for portfolio companies the Senior Associate is involved with by advising Directors on major market trends and operational changes and by carrying out the necessary portfolio company review documents needed for CDPQ’s internal monitoring.
Requirements
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience within investment banking and/or private equity
Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or accounting is a plus but not necessary;
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
Excellent financial analysis skills, in particular LBO modelling;
Excellent proficiency with Excel and Powerpoint is needed;
French bilingual, spoken and written;
Be legally authorized to work in the UK;
Available to travel abroad.
