Job title: Project Manager – Substation Schemes
Location: Aberdeen / Glasgow – Flexible to work at 1 or between both locations
Contract length: 6 month initial contract – Potential to be extended or made Permanent
IR35 Status: Inside of scope
Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Project Manager to work on the development of an exciting new portfolio of projects of Substation and Energy schemes in Scotland.
The role will be based in between sites in Aberdeen and Glasgow and can be flexible to work predominantly on one or between both on an initial 6 month contract but with great scope to be extended further.
Responsibilities
Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations
Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved
Accountable for KPI’s in line with project objectives and monitor performance
Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification
Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes/hold weekly meeting
Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
Prepare and present both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
Ensure the team maintains accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
Review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS
Lead risk/opportunity reviews, ownership of the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes
Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement actions
Key Skills / Experience
Established Project Management experience on similar projects
Ideally have a previous background as Project Engineer
Previous Substation experience
Previous experience working with UK Power legislations
Experienced working with construction teams throughout the design development phase of project
Formal qualification in project management or equivalent experience
Valid CSCS and SMSTS
Proficient in commercial/project management communications
Experience in implementing safe systems of work
Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experienced in managing planning applications
