Senior Developer to work with a Government Department. This is an initial 12 month contract, inside IR35, paying £550 per day. This is a remote contract until further notice (offices based in the North West of England)
Ideally, you will hold current and valid SC Clearance
As a Full Stack Senior Developer, you will work as part of the Shared Applications Service team to support Transformation. As part of the Discovery phase of Agile delivery, the expectation of Senior Developer is to work on various problem statements and solutions in collaboration with rest of the team.
You will be key for the product delivery, you will develop core components of our solutions and help select appropriate technologies. Your subject matter expertise will enable you to operate with greater levels of autonomy and decision making.
You will work to our technical standards writing clean, secure code following a test-driven continuous integration approach, ensuring the code is open as far as possible and can be re-used.
You will be expected to mentor and lead other engineers in technical tasks, as well as support recruitment and assessment activities.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
*delivering secure, reliable and scalable software, and supporting your team with technical tasks when needed
*evaluating and advising on design choices and ensuring that software is high quality and balances technical and business considerations
*defining and documenting test cases for new systems and maintaining live systems to ensure ongoing performance
*evolving new approaches/solutions with other professions through discoveries, maintaining a focus on development and deployment
*helping prioritise and direct technical tasks across your team, to balance new and live services
Essential Skills and Experience
*Developing software using Node.js and Java
*Working with Aurora Postgresql (or relevant RMDBMS skills)
*Committing code using Git
*Setting up and design of Continuous Integration pipelines (setup and design)
*Designing ReSTful APIs
*An understanding of Agile working, accessibility, User Centred Design (UCD) & CD.
*A willingness to challenge technical decisions and ways of working
*Experience leading and mentoring of junior developers
*Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
*Setting up and design of Continuous Integration pipelines
*GDS design standards
*OpenID Connect & OAuth2
