Job Title: Senior External Reporting Accountant
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Salary Range: £42,400 – £53,000
Location: Eastleigh

Ageas is looking for a Qualified Accountant or Tax Professional to prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial statements, regulatory returns and tax returns to ensure the business meets its compliance obligations. You may have experience in both accounting and tax, or experience in one area with a desire to learn the other.

In this position, you’ll be preparing accurate and timely reporting for external stakeholders to support the month end, quarter end and annual reporting processes, and to ensure that tax is calculated correctly and payments are made by the necessary deadlines. Stakeholders include the wider finance team, the wider UK business, senior finance management, the Board, the Audit Committee, HMRC and industry regulatory bodies.

Main Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparation of the annual financial statements under IFRS for all UK entities, including the group’s pension scheme.
• Be a central point of contact for the external auditors across the UK group.
• Proactively maintain, develop consistency of, and ensure compliance with UK accounting policies. Ensure the UK group adheres to Group accounting policies.
• Preparation of quarterly and annual returns for UK industry regulators.
• Preparation of the UK group’s direct tax (CT) and indirect tax (VAT and IPT) computations and returns, including timely payment of tax liabilities to HMRC.
• To maintain, keep relevant and current, documentation, review and sign-off, of appropriate controls for tax related matters to ensure compliance with Senior Accounting Officer and other legislation.
• Supporting the team and wider business with ad hoc queries and projects as required.

Skills and experience you need:

• Being a Qualified Accountant or Tax Professional – ACA, ACCA or CTA.
• Outstanding attention to detail, and a core value set that is focused on delivering high quality outputs.
• Excellent numerical skills and the ability to understand, evaluate and interpret financial data, identifying and looking to resolve apparent inconsistencies.
• Ability to review and interpret technical regulations and summarise succinctly to a non-technical audience.
• Proven communication and reporting experience of delivering to senior management and external parties.
• Proven experience using accounting systems, tax software, and Microsoft Office tools – notably excellent Excel skills
• A self-starter who is proactive, positive and delivers consistently.
