• Leading and developing a team of Loss Control Surveyors in the North
• Doing complex underwriting risk assessments visiting clients North of the Midlands into Scotland
• Providing thought leadership and technical insight in this remote role

About the roleThis is a pivotal role which is varied and rewarding as you develop your team and your technical skills whilst improving clients risk profiles.
Leading a team of 8 in the North (Northern England to Scotland) you will develop the abilities of your Loss Control Surveyors and lead their technical development. Your own client focus will be undertaking underwriting risk assessments for large, complex corporate customers including multi-site, multi-disciplined commercial customers as part of NFUM risk management programmes.
Your technical risk improvement reports and insight to the Underwriting teams in Chester, York and Glasgow will help to inform insurance decisions and effectively manage risks for the customer and reduce losses. Providing technical oversight and management of a regionally based Loss Control team your role is to lead by example and inspire and energise others.About you

• Detailed knowledge of current risk management and loss prevention practices for a broad range of insurance risks.
• Significant experience of surveying/consulting in large / complex commercial environments.
• Ability to interpret underwriting requirements to ensure that risk management decisions can be identified.
• Highly developed communication skills with customer and senior stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence and negotiate at the highest level.
• Experience and knowledge gained from working in Underwriting, Claims, Surveying or Commercial Engineering (or similar).
• Experience of managing people both directly and indirectly to optimise performance and develop skills and best practice desirable.
