Software Support Engineer – (Networking)

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Software/Support Engineer’ with some networking experience to join a growing company with a working environment where new ideas can quickly become projects that are both intellectually and financially rewarding.

You will form part of a technical support/development team analysing customer issues, building new systems and directly supporting customers. Given the nature of the applications my client develops, the position will include, attending trade shows and may involve extensive international travel (as and when allowed and safe to do so). There will also be the opportunity to be involved in software development. You must be eligible to work in the UK, be free to travel internationally and it would be considered advantageous if you have an EU/International driving license.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics or a related field.

Required knowledge:

– Object Oriented Analysis and Design Skills.

– Windows and Unix (MAC OSX/BSD or Linux)

– C/C++/Java/JNI

– A good understanding of IP and associated protocols.

– Good inter-personal skills.

Beneficial knowledge:

– Satellite Services – Inmarsat, VSAT, DVBRCS.

– MPEG Audio and Video standards.

– Quicktime, DirectX/Directshow.

– Embedded Linux.

– Mac OSX.

– Hardware knowledge or hardware design skills.

– SQL Database/FileMaker
