Your future duties and responsibilities
The Maritime Environment Solution Architect will be responsible for the development of solutions meeting client objectives and requirements for MOD Research and Development (R&D) projects within CGIs Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit.
You will be joining a growing Maritime R&D team as a senior member and will work across existing and new projects and contribute to the identification and creation of new business growth, exploiting developed capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience of Royal Navy platforms, processes and Combat Management Systems, together with experience of designing future-thinking Generation After Next (GAN) solutions.
Your future duties and responsibilities will include:
Defining and controlling solutions and system architectures (including models, decisions, validation, evolution, and delivery support), working with the customer and any subcontractors to identify, trade-off and design the overall architecture;
Translating architectures into detailed designs and providing technical leadership to development teams in order to oversee the successful implementation and delivery of the designs;
Assisting with the overall strategy and business development activities, working with multiple stakeholders; and
Developing client facing artefacts and proposals.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
To be successful in this role you will require the following qualifications and qualities:
Five or more years of recent Software Solutions Architecture, ideally within a Defence Maritime Environment, with experience of Royal Navy platforms, processes and Combat Management Systems
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for a solution, considering strategic and tactical aspects
Track record of designing high level architectures using standardised approaches and tools, requirements management and Technical Specifications, and then translating these into detailed designs
Ability to lead others in technical work
Proven experience of interacting with external stakeholders to derive successful solutions;
Good planning skills, and able to manage concurrent activities against external dependencies
Good leadership skills in managing, motivating, and coaching
Strong presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills
Comfortable dealing with ambiguous and high-level end-user requirements, and able to resolve these into qualified detailed proposals and solutions
Self-sufficient and results driven, excited by the prospect of playing an important role in growing the business
UK National SC is required.
Highly Desirable additional qualifications and qualities:
Track record with R&D, designing future-thinking Generation After Next (GAN) solutions
Track record producing technical reports in support of Science and Technology research
Track record with Agile and DevOps
Track record with AI
TOGAF certified, or equivalent
Track record with Archimate
