Sustainability Consultant (Thermal Modelling) £50k – £60k + Benefits Cambridge, Hybrid Working Available Consultancy / Sustainability / Construction / Sustainability Consultant / Breeam / Net Zero Carbon / LZC / Building Services / MEP This role within a multidisciplinary consultancy will suit someone who genuinely has a passion for sustainability and the environment. The role will focus on the development of energy strategies, overheating assessments and sustainability strategies across a diverse project portfolio. You will be working in the building services team but be part of a wider sustainability network producing a variety of energy, overheating, thermal models and LZC reports/feasibility reports. Your responsibilities will include undertaking TM54 assessments, TM52/59 Overheating assessments, part L compliance calculations and carrying out EPCs, to level 5 on a diverse range of projects. The Role Provide strategic low energy/carbon design advice with an emphasis on passive measures Undertake Dynamic Thermal Modelling using IES VE software, including comfort analysis, natural ventilation air-flow modelling, Building Regulations Part L assessments, and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) Prepare Energy Assessments for Local Authority approval as part of planning application Undertake energy audits on simple and complex buildings Prepare decarbonisation plans for whole sites Prepare Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) technology feasibility studies Produce evidence requirements for BREEAM credits requiring thermal modelling outputs: Potential for Natural Ventilation, Thermal Comfort, Reduction of energy use and carbon emissions, Energy Monitoring, Low Carbon Design, etc. Preparation of SALIX funding grants Support senior members of staff in client and design team relationships Understand client needs, interpret and confirm the project brief Commit to supporting the strategic company sustainability policies and the internal environmental programme objectives Experience and Skills Required You will be an experienced sustainability engineer, with a strong understanding of thermal modelling. You will ideally come from a building services engineering or architectural background and have a strong holistic understanding of sustainability in the built environment. You will be a competent and experienced accredited EPC assessor. You will require experience of using the following software to a proficient level: IES VE, REVIT, AutoCAD
