Consistently ranked globally as one of the most cost-effective non-profit initiatives, we have received significant funding since our inception including from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), USAID and philanthropic investors.

Our main area of focus is the elimination of schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases (intestinal worms). Endemic infections of these parasitic worms are found in some of the world’s most marginalised communities, and they can have a hugely detrimental effect on individuals, including:

• Reduced productivity
• Internal organ damage
• Impaired child development
• Reduced school attendance
• Increased risk of HIV in women
• Infertility

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director – Access, the Technical Advisor will be responsible for the provision of all technical assistance required to support the governments of endemic countries to reach their control and elimination targets, namely for schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths, specifically around access to and delivery of treatment. Having excellent communication skills and a willingness to travel regularly, you will also have good technical knowledge of the control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases and will support the wider team in working respectfully and in partnership with our colleagues globally. You will have experience working in sub-Saharan Africa and effectively managing daily priorities in a flexible and adaptable manner.

Summary of Main Duties

• Provide robust technical and operational guidance to advance the control and elimination of SCH and STH through evidence-based interventions, incorporating new technologies as developed
• Ensure the provision of Unlimit Health technical guidance will meet the needs of endemic country control and elimination efforts and is coordinated and aligned to activities supported by other stakeholders
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships and collaborations with governments and other organisations to ensure synergy in technical support provision
• Ensure the adoption of best practices and harmonised tools for programme execution and management
• Assist in the development of NTD programme strategic and planning documents as requested by endemic countries
• Support endemic country programmes to develop long-term treatment and surveillance strategies, utilising data and aligning to World Health Organisation guidance
• Ensure programme, financial and contractual documentation is completed accurately and timely through Unlimit Health’s policies and procedures.
