NIAB is an independent science organisation, providing a range of research and technical services to the agricultural, horticultural and food sectors.
You will join a team in our Official Seed Testing Laboratory, part of the Analytical Services Team, currently located at NIAB Park Farm, a new purpose-built laboratory facility in Histon, Cambridge. The Official Seed Testing Station, NIAB, provide services that promote and improve agriculture; seed analysts conduct laboratory analysis for seed purity, germination and other seed determination to confirm that seed offered for sale is in compliance with statutory requirements.
OSTS is an ISTA (International Seed Testing Association) accredited laboratory and all seed analysts receive in-house training to acquire qualifications and achieve the standard ISTA level in all crop divisions.
You will need at least four GCSEs or equivalent or some relevant experience. You should be enthusiastic, a good team worker, committed to a rigorous training timetable and have a flexible approach to work. Accuracy, good communication skills and attention to detail are key requirements for the role with some basic computer skills and some knowledge of quality assurance systems desirable.
Starting salary is in the range of £19,626 to £25,896 per annum dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.
