Join our friendly and passionate team in the White Peak, working as a member of the Welcome Team and as a part of the wider Peak District National Trust Team, to achieve our goals as a conservation charity.
Welcome and Service Assistants are the first friendly faces visitors meet on our properties, they provide a warm welcome, information, support and at all times excellent customer service. In the White Peak our Welcome and Service team work across two properties: Ilam Park and Dovedale National Nature Reserve.
You’ll be required to work regular weekends, bank holidays and school holidays, to support us during peak visitor times.
Due to working across the two properties, you must have a full valid UK licence.

You’ll work across the two properties, some days working at Dovedale and other days working at Ilam Park, starting and ending each day together at our White Peak estate office.
At Dovedale, you will work as an organised team of Welcome and Service Assistants (2-6 people per day) as well as our Welcome Volunteers. The environment is bustling with lots of opportunities to engage with visitors about the landscape, local landmarks, wildlife and our conservation in the White Peak. While also supporting with car parking payments via cash and card, you will be required to follow cash handling procedures, from start of day set up and delivery, to end of day processes.
At Ilam Park, you will work alongside a Welcome Volunteer as a mini team or singularly to provide excellent customer service at our entrance, engaging with all visitors and bringing Ilam Park to life. You will also support visitors in taking car parking payments via card machine when required. Your role will include regular presentation and cleaning duties to ensure our sites are presentable, in Ilam Park this includes our toilet facilities.
There are opportunities at both sites to support the Visitor Experience team in helping delivery of events and trails we are running.
What you’ll be doing
As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.
You’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.
You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
