Automation Tester/SDET – Java environment

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Automation Tester/Tester with strong experience working in Java environments, in a SME or similar software provider/software products organisation, to perform feature-driven testing of complex web-based applications and are comfortable working in with a more flexible/pro-active environment, working at any stage of the development life cycle. This will involve a range of functional and non-functional, automated testing, plus analysis and presentation of large data volumes, working in an Agile development environment, implementing test automation, and improving new and emerging QA practices. You will be working in product teams of Developers, BA’s, Product Owners, DevOps, and Test Leads.

Core Skills, Experience and Responsibilities for Software Development Engineer in Test/SDET/Automation Tester role are:

• Experience with Agile, Behaviour Driven Development and Test-Driven Development.
• A minimum 5 years commercial experience as an SDET/Automation Tester in Java environments.
• Worked with large datasets in and complex systems.
• Comfortable and demonstrable experience working in less structured/reactive environments and are comfortable testing at any stage of the development life cycle.
• Experience of creating, maintaining, and executing automated and manual test scripts.
• Good understanding of Agile methods, software testing principles and ALM tooling (Azure, DevOps, GitHub etc).
• Understanding of software development life cycles and software testing principles.
• Test Automation Frameworks – Cucumber (or similar) for BDD, Selenium or Protractor, Cucumber (or similar) for automated web testing.
• Ability to design/build automated testing frameworks and test tooling.
• Knowledge of software code development – able to spot bad practice and code errors.
• Nice to have – High User Cloud based products (AWS or Azure), ISEB/ISTQB.

The company offers a Hybrid working environment of working from home and 1 day per week in either of their East Midlands, Bucks or London offices (whichever is best for you), with a base salary range of £50-60K, depending on experience and a great benefits package including: 25 days holidays rising to 27 days per annum after 3 years’, plus 3 privilege days which are normally applied between Christmas/New Year, Pension plan matched from 5% up to a maximum of 8%, Private healthcare for staff and their immediate dependents, Life Assurance, Income Protection cover, free confidential counselling, and advice on managing your work/life balance.
