Job Description

As the Building Services Sustainability Consultant, you’ll work alongside leading facade design and engineering professionals on groundbreaking projects, including Europe’s largest Passivhaus developments and high-rise retrofit schemes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conduct building performance planning and assessment using Passivhaus PHPP software for large-scale projects, focusing on MEP and building physics.
• Create high-quality technical reports to communicate critical building performance issues and manage design change in the performance model.
• Support MEP design teams and contractors in the delivery of Passivhaus projects.
• Review MEP technical drawings, models, and reports from design consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with the performance model.
• Undertake critical evaluation and refinement of building and MEP design aspects.
• Perform site inspections of MEP installations and collect evidence for Passivhaus certification.
• Communicate assessment progress to clients and provide recommendations for design improvements.
• Develop MEP strategies for new projects that support Passivhaus and net-zero performance.
• Work on both new-build and retrofit projects, contributing to the sustainable design of buildings.

In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, you will have the chance to participate in longer-term studio projects, such as developing the company’s Net Zero Carbon strategy and engaging with the wider design community to promote and share knowledge. Research projects related to sustainability will also be available.

The Successful Applicant

Applicants for this Building Services Sustainability Consultant positions should demonstrate the following:

• BSc or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
• Ideally membership in CIBSE or a similar professional body, preferably chartered or working towards this status.
• A genuine passion for sustainable energy design, ideally with some proven project experience
• Experience in or knowledge of Passivhaus design and delivery is desirable, but not essential.
• A “whole buildings approach” to sustainable design.
• Familiarity with modelling programs such as IES, Tas, Energyplus, or thermal/condensation modelling software is advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work flexibly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• A collaborative approach to work and proven ability to forge successful working relationships with large project teams working on complex projects.

You must have the right to work in the UK and will be comfortable working 4-days/week in the Farringdon (London) office.

A highly competitive salary up to £65,000 (depending on experience). Associate level consultants may be considered at a higher salary band, but a track record of work winning will be essential.

Benefits include: Pension (4%:5%); Private Medical & Dental Cover; 25 days annual leave; 1 day WFH. Potential bonus (e.g. discretionary up to 15% based on company and personal performance), subject to position.
