BUSINESS LEADERSHIP SPECIALIST Location: Home based, with some travel required (primarily in England) Salary: Starting from £59,808 plus expenses paid. The Vacancy Full time, Permanent. The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is a leading union and professional association representing more than 24,000 school and college leaders across the UK, and we re looking for a new team member. The association is looking to appoint a Business Leadership Specialist to influence national education policy and to help raise the profile of business leaders working in state and independent schools and colleges in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Crown Dependencies. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help ensure that the crucial role that business leaders play is supported and recognised at a national level. The successful candidate will represent the interests of business leaders in meetings at the highest levels of government and will be involved in a wide range of discussions around policy development that impacts across the whole gamut of roles undertaken by business leaders in schools and colleges. A knowledge of the relevant legislation, policy and procedures in England is essential. The ideal candidate will have proven successful experience of senior leadership in an education setting or policy organisation, trade union, professional association, local government, or equivalent organisation. Their career to date will have credibility with ASCL members, enabling the post holder to quickly build effective relationships with members and stakeholders. They will be able to think strategically and tactically, often in real time, in order to influence decision makers and secure positive outcomes for the Association s members and children and young people. They will have excellent written skills and a proven ability to develop and present sometimes challenging advice and information persuasively, accurately and concisely and be able to understand, summarise and respond to lengthy and complex documents. The successful candidate will join an extremely well-regarded and supportive team of policy specialists. Each member of the policy team works on different aspects of education policy but comes together to provide cohesive advice to government and support to members. The post-holder will be home-based although the role involves travel, primarily in England, to attend meetings with key stakeholders and deliver training. Some overnight stays will be required. IT and telephone equipment will be provided. This is a full-time post and flexible working requests, including job share applications, will be considered. This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £59,808 to £66,107. We offer a very generous package of benefits, including a pension scheme to which the Association contributes 9%.
