Catchment Projects Officer
Salary: Competitive DOE (up to £32,500)
Hours: 37 hours
Location: Based at Cambridge with some travel to Walsall
At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions.
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a full time Catchment Projects Officer to join our Water Strategy team. Reporting to the Water Resources and Environment Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing our catchment, biodiversity, and river restoration projects. Working with partner organisations and our internal catchment team you will be key in the delivery of environmental improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation of a delivery programme for river restoration measures, and implementation of the strategy into the next asset management period.
• Supporting the existing catchment advisors in both regions in identifying where and how to effectively undertake catchment activities and deliver the company s catchment management strategy and programme in both regions.
• Using existing data, data collection and analysis and fieldwork to collect sampling data and inform and measure proposed activities.
• Liaising with landowners, internal and external stakeholders and partnership groups for collaborative work and advising on catchment measures and representing the Company at external events and partnerships.
• Co-ordination of our biodiversity grant funding and project monitoring.
About you:
It is essential that you possess an ability to engage with stakeholders both internally, and outside of the water industry, work in the field and adapt and develop new techniques.
We are looking for a candidate at graduate level with a hard-working ethic, organised, with the ability to collate/ analyse data using spreadsheets, a self-motivated individual who will work and communicate effectively with numerous key stakeholders.
An understanding of water supply and treatment, working with multiple organisations, river restoration techniques, catchment management or catchment sensitive farming would be an advantage in this role, however not essential. You will hold a current valid UK driving licence as an essential part of this role will involving visiting project locations and travelling to sites in both our regions.
