Craftsperson – Birmingham or Cardiff – £34,940 to £41,105 Are you someone who sees a car warning light and thinks I’ll have a little look before going to the car garage? After 5 hours of watching YouTube videos and 2 trips to the car parts shop, you have finally managed to fix the problem. You will be passionate about fixing things & for those pieces of equipment you are not too familiar with you will have a strong desire to develop your own skill set and learn from others. At times you will need to apply your own research into methods relating to repair & maintenance. We will be asking you to undertake maintenance and engineering activities on a range of PMC equipment, including Flowstopping equipment, generators and power packs, various items of tooling. If you can t already, we will train you in the servicing of fire extinguishers and performing PAT testing as part of the PMC South Maintenance team. You will live in or near and around the Birmingham or Cardiff areas, in addition the successful candidate will be required to provide 5 days support to our PMC Hitchin unit and as such you should be prepared to stay away from home at least once a month for a week. We will provide you with transport and accommodation for those trips in addition to overnight stay pay. As a Craftsperson you will ensure all tools, equipment and vehicles are safe, maintained, tested and calibrated where required and all legislative requirements are complied with. You will be required to deliver maintenance tasks on schedule and to the appropriate standards whilst ensuring any faults or defects identified are resolved. You will work with the Maintenance Technicians / Assistants to ensure that the inspection requirements of pressure systems (PSSR) are delivered. You will subsequently support the PMC team in wider initiatives and workload to ensure the overall business objectives are met whilst providing appropriate records to the Maintenance Officer to ensure work orders are closed out correctly. To be successful in this role you will have an in-depth technical knowledge of Engineering requirements, associated maintenance, relevant codes of practice and engineering instructions. You will be comfortable working without direct supervision and utilise training and maintenance manuals and work orders to complete maintenance. You will have practical experience of tooling and equipment whilst undertaking work in a Safe Systems of Working including Risk Assessment. You will be comfortable using computer systems for accessing information and inputting key data such as maintenance records. Your understanding of relevant disciplines and Health & Safety legislative requirements will be to the required standard whilst being able to demonstrate relevant experience of competencies to support skills, knowledge and experience.
