Role Purpose
The Biodiversity Policy and Strategy Team is working at the forefront of the joint Nature and Climate Emergencies. As our lead advisor on ecosystem resilience, you will be responsible for the provision of specialist advice enabling action to support nature s recovery.
Working alongside the Team Leader and linking with other strategic and policy colleagues you will provide expert advice and technical input regarding the design and planning of our biodiversity programme. This will include using your skills and knowledge to lead the development and delivery of our ecosystem resilience policy products for internal customers.
Externally you will liaise and work with colleagues and counterparts in the Welsh Government and cross sector partners in a approach to influence emerging UK and Welsh policy and legislation needed to achieve a nature positive Wales.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Knowledge of: Welsh and UK legislation related to biodiversity and ecosystem resilience; Welsh & UK Governments & Global policy drivers in the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR), ecosystem approach, ecosystem resilience including services and biodiversity.
2. Knowledge and practical understanding of the range of partners and stakeholders involved in ecosystem resilience and habitats in Wales.
3. Experience of: Working at a national, UK and international level managing a portfolio of work programmes related to ecosystem resilience and habitats.
4. Working in a programme and project management environment with project management experience and/or qualifications.
5. You will be a member of a relevant professional institution and/or working towards membership.
6. Representing the organisation in high profile and contentious issues in the public arena.
7. Share your knowledge and expertise to help solve problems, supporting all Heads of Business in EPP as required.
