EHS Officer
Dumbarton – Permanent role
Highly varied role for an experienced EHS Officer to join a highly successful international manufacturing organisation based in Dumbarton.
Purpose of Post:
• Reporting to the Operations Manager your remit will be to ensure EHS legal compliance for the business, develop improvements supporting local, Corporate and national initiatives.
• Ensuring the consistent application and compliance to Company Policy, Procedure and standards.
• Maintaining a process of continual improvement.
• Support the Ops Manager in all aspects of EHS delivery to meet business needs.
• Maintains robust EHS systems for Dumbarton manufacturing facility ensuring legal compliance, industrial hygiene programmes fulfilled, and environmental programmes developed.
• Implement continual improvement programmes.
• Maintain costs within budget.
Primary Accountabilities:
• Ensure compliance of EHS legislation and procedures through system management and audits
• Conduct Risk Assessments and audits to ensure safe operation and compliance of all plant and equipment.
• Develop EHS business and action plans based on performance data and industry developments.
• Develop and lead environmental initiatives including Zero Waste to Landfill and Net Zero
• Manage Industrial Hygiene monitoring programme.
• Provide support for effective training and communication to employees.
• Lead audit process ensuring zero major non-conformances.
• Lead EHS continual improvement culture.
• Contribute to Corporate EHS plans enabling strategy development.
• Provide team briefs and communications as required.
Develop, implement and ensure compliance of Safety processes and procedures, including SSOW, Control of Contractors, Permit to Work system
Ensure all near misses, incidents are recorded and adequately investigated and suitable actions are put in place and any immediate learning is communicated.
• Support behavioural safety initiatives
• Provide technical assistance as required to maintain and improve Safety within Production and Staff areas.
• Maintain budgetary control
• Provide admin support as required
Post Holder Characteristics:
Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards (ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)
Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution
The ability to build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
Strong IT, communication and team working skills
Ability to coach and develop individuals to achieve EHS plans.
The successful candidate will have –
NEBOSH General Certificate essential. AIEMA preferable.
Training experience preferable.
Experience in a Manufacturing environment essential.
