The opportunity

QBE Europe are looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join Chris Thomas’s team on a permanent basis. This role will be to assist with accounting and reporting activities ensuring the accuracy and consistency of underlying data, and to liaise with external and internal customers to formulate and implement policy.

Your new role

• Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of accurate accounting records in accordance with internal procedures and statutory requirements to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, codes of conduct and best practice guidelines.
• Undertake month end activities such as reconciliation of key control accounts and analysis of accounts to ensure correct procedures are followed.
• Be aware of the Finance business plan to appropriately align service delivery.
• Contribute to the development of team’s business plan to maximize productivity and performance.
• Participate in all internal meetings, as required, to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice.
• Contribute to the refinement of process, procedures, and systems to continuously improve efficiency of accounting.
• Provide advice, guidance, and information on to support decision making and improve financial management understanding.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations.
• Assist in the production of accurate financial returns required by internal and external bodies and regulators to meet reporting deadlines.
• Supports others in the team where appropriate to assist in the achievement of their objectives.

About you

• Be a part-qualified accountant (for example ACA, ACCA or CIMA)?or equivalent or have relevant years of working experience.
• Have an in depth understanding of best-practice accounting (in an insurance environment preferred,?although strong candidates from other industries will be considered)
• Have good working knowledge of relevant accounting software and tools.?
• Can demonstrate experience of structured process improvement in an accounting environment.
• Be confident building controls into processes.?
• Attention to detail.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Teamwork – able to collaborate and work flexibly with others.
• Microsoft Office applications, in particular Microsoft Excel
