THE ROLE:

As a Junior Development Chemist, you will be asked to complete a variety of tasks and may work on several projects simultaneously. These projects will be provided and supported by the R&D Manager.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

University Degree in Sciences or related relevant professional qualifications to degree level.

Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Ability to lead cross functionally, forge strong working relationships and build effective project teams.

FMCG industry experience in personal care formulation and science is ideal or similar

Excellent IT skills particularly MS Word, Excel with the ability to present. information in forms, tables and spread sheets.

Self-motivated, energetic & positive attitude.

Proactive solutions and problem-solving abilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and formulating products as directed by the R&D Group

Preparation of laboratory and stability samples.

Conducting regular stability testing & reporting any problems observed

Placing products on stability both from new developments and existing production runs over a variety of formats e.g. aerosols, liquids, tubes.

Literature searches and reviews of related topics when developing and formulating new products.

Develop, maintain and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

To be involved with laboratory or in use tests to determine the products properties.

Exposure to project meetings and discussions with various other departments in the business.

Present new projects and research to a wide audience.

Develop product demonstrations for new innovation.

Sourcing of external assistance where required.

Participating in daily running of Product Development laboratory and organisation of chemical disposal.

Equipment – ensuring the proper use and maintenance of equipment and

instruments and conduct routine checks

SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Working as part of the R&D team, working closely with the product, packaging and processing teams. You will also be expected to liaise closely with employees across the business at all levels.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

To ensure that they are aware of, understand and follow all Company Health & Safety instructions – accident/incident reporting, first aid etc.

To report any accidents or near misses to the Senior Research Development Chemist, R&D Manager and/or Health & Safety Manager/Officer.
