Department Overview:
The Biological Sciences department is an overarching department made up of 3 smaller teams, In Vitro Toxicology, Clinical Pathology and Histology, performing a range of invitro assays and histological techniques.
Main responsibilities:
The role involves the day-to-day experimental set-up, performance and data recording of GLP compliant in vitro genetic toxicology assays and other analyses. Practical techniques will include the performance of sterile, aseptic techniques for the maintenance and use of bacterial and mammalian tissue cultures and other basic microbiology and clinical pathology techniques.

Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have an interest in biology and be reliable, conscientious, and able to work independently as well as part of a team, with minimal supervision. The work is “hands on” and you should therefore be dextrous, confident in carrying out practical procedures, and have an eye for detail. Working as part of a small team you will also be required to have a flexible approach to work. You must have good standards of numeracy and literacy for this role and the ability to work with accuracy when performing repetitive tasks.
We also have the option to train an individual to become a qualified Level 3 Laboratory Technician while working for Sequani if needed. This is an apprenticeship which will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. The duration of the course is 18 months to 2 years depending on the individual. Sequani will look to support you and fund your apprenticeship in partnership with one of our chosen training providers.
The following skills and experience are essential for this role:
Knowledge and understanding of GLP, aseptic techniques and cell/bacterial culture would be desirable however appropriate training will be given.
