A Lead Developer is required for our client in Birmingham, to be on site 1-2 times a week. This permanent role will pay up to £65,000 for the right person. We are looking for a driven team player who is continually learning and comfortable providing technical vision, leadership and mentoring to other developers in the team.

You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of products which unify the customers digital experience, and will lead on technical strategy and decisions for a product team.

Working Practices: On-site 1-2 days per week
Salary: Up to £65,000

Responsibilities:

• To lead the enhancement of the product according to the product backlog through the design, development, and testing of the product. Develop tactical and strategically significant digital solutions utilising multiple technologies. To lead the use of source control systems to automate and enhance delivery processes, as well as to lead the development team in agile development of the product, within the Scrum framework
• Grow and share knowledge of specific technical areas as required for the product.
• Lead the ongoing technical support and advice for the product.
• Coach the development team to engage with users and stakeholders appropriately, led by the Product Owner
• Lead on the identification of accessibility requirements, as per the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and implement solutions to the required standard.
• Lead and mentor other developers in the product team, including apprentices, by providing technical leadership and vision in the team’s software development approach.
• Initiate and manage investigation and development of new features in the product and identify and promote their benefits to the organisation
• Collaborate with technical leads from other teams to share best practice, experience, and knowledge

It would be beneficial to have experience with the following: Terraform, C#, Dart/Flutter, Github Actions experience & Azure developer certification

Requirements:

• Meaningful and relevant experience of developing web and mobile solutions
• Significant expertise in a Web and Mobile programming language
• In depth understanding of underlying architecture
• In-depth knowledge of Back End technologies or of suitable Front End web and mobile technologies.
• Cloud experience (Azure preferred).
• Experience of mobile first development and cross-platform development
• Experience of leading on the design and implementation of technical solutions
• Experience of leading and coaching developers in an agile or product team
• Experience with Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration (CI/CD) processes
• Experience using source control: Git.
• Knowledge in writing and applying automated tests
• Experience of working with end users
• Experience of user experience and user interface design advantageous
• A continuous improvement mentality
