This is a great opportunity for a Lead QA Tester to lead and execute non-functional testing within our Digital Payment Services team at DWP Digital. We’re looking to you to lead and deliver successful outcomes on our Application Development Work Programme – this includes changes that are critical to initiatives which cut across DWP Digital and which support the build of modern services which reimagine the payments landscape. Payments, payment processing and accounting applications are core to DWP. We are the biggest payer in the UK, serving 22m citizens and making circa £200bn in payments annually. We generate 1/3 of the UK’s BACS traffic. And most importantly we get money out on time and in the form that best works for our users, often when they need it most. Delivering World-Class Payments As a hands-on Lead QA Tester, you’ll decide and deliver the appropriate depth and breadth of testing for our payment products, using a risk-based approach. And you’ll make sure our test suites are stable, robust, and reliable. Day to day you will: Ensure that best practices are in place, and drive improvements by sharing knowledge and resources across teams. Ensure that usability, accessibility, security, stability, and capacity are embedded in the development of citizen services. Lead and execute non-functional testing, working alongside testers and digital practitioners to deliver consistent solutions and strategies Challenge current processes and help improve ways of working – you’ll identify tooling that will drive innovation and improvement Identify risks and develop plans for mitigation and contingency. Work with key stakeholders and technical decision makers to define strategic vision for products and citizen services. Some of the technologies we currently use: Scripting languages e.g., Shell, Unix MS Windows server and desktop OS LoadRunner RDBMS structures SQL Plus SOAPUI / XML UFT One What skills, knowledge and experience will you need? Proven track record of executing and leading functional and non-functional testing specifically; performance, resilience, and security Strong experience in ERP systems such as Oracle e-Business Suite, in particular Payment and Accounting functionality Experience of building manual and automated test solutions, and knowledge of testing tools Ability to identify, design and execute tests and strategies from NFRs and articulate to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a concise and logical way Experience of driving process improvements by research and sharing knowledge with resources across teams Experience of impacting and planning deliverables based on people and capability, reviewing, and managing expectations You can maintain performance levels for you and your team in challenging circumstances Details. We work a hybrid model, so you can expect to be in the office 40% of your time (most people do 2 days a week) and the rest home working. Pay: In return for your skills, we offer competitive pay of up to £60,781. Pension: You’ll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of up to 27%.
